plasmoids: (you turn me into somebody loved)
[personal profile] plasmoids
I think I just do memes now. 8B

Comment to this post, and I will list seven things I want you to talk about. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your blog. Other people can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.

Forgive me if I take a little while to get back to you on those prompts.

[personal profile] molt gave me these:

1. aisaka taiga
Lol, Taiga. ♥ Aisaka Taiga is a character from the anime, manga, light novel(s) Toradora!. She is also known as "the palmtop tiger," because a) she is tiny and b) her name is essentially "tiger", if you didn't pick that up. When I was watching the anime, I identified with her a lot, because I was very angry and small (and I still am the latter) during high school. I wasn't know as a bad ass then or anything, but I related to her and her personally. Not to mention I shipped her and Ryuuji pretty hard (*points to icon*), and that was unusual for me; I tend to ship slash couples. But whatever. I love Taiga. ♥

2. ponies
OH MY GOD, I LOVE PONIES. Let me tell you the story of how I got into ponies:

Okay, so. I watched the first episode of Friendship is Magic when I noticed a lot of my friend were getting into it. I was... really skeptical at first, because I was like "My Little Pony? Really?" And even after watching the first episode, I didn't really take to it.

So last March, on my spring break, I was staying up late for no reason, and I decided to start watching again. I picked up with episode two and got hooked. I watched up through episode four, when my boyfriend finally joined me, and we stayed up until about 3AM watching. We tried to go to bed, but I couldn't get to sleep, and two hours later he woke up feeling sick. We realized whatever we had eaten earlier that night was making us sick and unable to sleep, so we got up and finished the rest of first season (or anyway, whatever was out at that point) while shoveling Tums tablets down our throats. I think we finally got to sleep about 6 or 7AM, and I'm pretty sure I dreamt about ponies.

So yeah, my descent into bronyhood was awesome and terrible at the same time.

3. magical girls
I am not... huge into magical girls, but I definitely have my favorites. I certainly loved the genre when I was younger, and I was super into Sailor Moon, Magic Knight Rayearth, Ojamajo Doremi and some other titles.

Now that I'm a little older, I'm not as into the genre, but I still REALLY love Sailor Moon. There's a kind of revival going on, and I've been buying the English reissues and really enjoying them, though I think I'm a volume behind at the moment. I also bought the first Rayearth omnibus from Dark Horse recently, because it was my first, true manga, and because all of the other versions I had either fell apart or just kind of sucked (lol, TokyoPop). And of course, I'm a big fan of Madoka, but that's a little different from most magical girl series. If/when it gets released stateside, I will be all over that shit.

4. jason todd
I have this eternal soft spot for all the Robins. I don't make it a secret that Tim Drake is my favorite Robin... despite him being kind of douche, lmfao. And Jason. Jason holds a special place in my heart, though I'm not really sure where. Like I said, I love all the Robins, and I really feel for Jason, him being the one had it the worst. One of the few things I like about the DCnU is that Jason is more of anti-hero than a bad guy. Like, he has an actual relationship with Bruce and the other Robins than he did in the original universe, and I like that. I wanted him to have that family connection, you know? It was just so sad that he couldn't return to their inner-circle, despite the fact that he was alive again, due to his actions and Bruce being, well, Bruce. I wanted him to have them as a family, and I'm glad he got it.

Jason is the Robin that just breaks my heart. While Dick makes me happy and goofy, Tim makes my nerd heart swoon and Damien makes me want to hug and hit him at the same time, Jason just hurts my heart. I don't want to even go into my FEELINGS about the animated Under the Red Hood. I haven't been able to watch it since the first time I saw it, despite owning it. Ugh. Just. Yeah.

5. favourite colour
I never really know how to answer this question. ALL THE COLORS. 8D

6. young justice
I don't know if Monica meant the comic book or the cartoon, so I'll talk about both, I guess? Idk.

Young Justice the comic book was probaly the best thing DC ever did. And I may be biased, but I really did love YJ. It was such GOOD humor, the characters were so well-written, the art was fun and colorful and it was just good. When they cancelled it in favor of rebooting the Teen Titans with most of the YJ team, I was okay with it, but I really missed YJ. I know DC wanted to go in a darker direction, but it just SUCKED losing such a good book. :/

As for Young Justice the cartoon, I was really skeptical at first. I really wanted it to be an adaptation of the comic, and I was really hoping for Bart, Tim and Cissie to be a part of the show. I went into it knowing it was an amalgamation of various universes, meaning of course Robin was Dick and Kid Flash was Wally, and I was disappointed, but I didn't want to write it off. Besides, it had Superboy!

And I was pleasantly surprised. DC, if nothing else, puts out consistently good animated shows, and Young Justice is one of their best. The characters are flawless, the chemistry is great, the story lines are solid and the little cameos and in-jokes make my heart flutter. They did an excellent job tying all the generations together, and I'm honestly sorry I doubted them.

7. make-up routine
Lol, make-up routine? What's that? 8B

I don't wear make-up a lot, though I probably should, because my skin isn't great. When I do wear make-up, I start with Smashbox primer from Sephora - it's green, but I don't remember the specific name. I then use CoverGirl 505 Ivory liquid concealer on... most of my face, lol. I dab it on with a q-tip under my eyes, across my chin and forehead, down my nose and around my nostrils. I also put streaks across my cheeks, kind of like cat whiskers, and then I blend it all in with a make-up brush. After the base is on, I used Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse in Porcelain Ivory to touch up any problem spots, like dark circles or blemishes.

If I have the time to wear anything else, it's usually just a bit of black eyeliner on the lower lids of my eyes, and some lip gloss or eyeshadow. I LOVE Sephora brand lip gloss, as it's the only kind I've ever used that hasn't dried out on my lips and peeled off. As for eyeshadow, I usually just use whatever brand has the colors I want. The eye liner I currently use is Revlon Color Stay. And boy does it stay - I have trouble taking it off, lol.

Oh. I guess I sort of do have a make-up routine. Ha. 8D
